Vulcanus-Budai Zöld 2024
7 000 Ft
Vulcanus and Budai Zöld from the slopes of Badacsony Hill, grown in basalt soil. This blend of Vulcanus and Budai Zöld—the latter known as the pollinator for Kéknyelű and a curiosity of the Badacsony region in its own right—is understated and elegant. On the nose, it offers discreet fruitiness, crisp pear, and a breath of minerality. The palate is elegant and precise, made all the more exciting by a creamy texture derived from lees ageing; the acidity and residual sugar carry the wine in a beautiful balance. The finish is of medium length, with notes of flint and a pinch of salinity. Minimum ageing potential of 5 years.
Description
Winemaking
Gentle, whole-bunch pressing. The must was settled and fermented at 18°C in breathable tanks, followed by racking after two months. The wine was matured half in tank and half in barrel; after fining and filtration, it was bottled in December 2025.
Vintage
A notably warm year, marked by early budbreak and an early harvest. Until the end of June, rainfall was adequate, but July and August brought hot, drought-like conditions. Harvest began on 13 August with Pinot Noir selected for sparkling base wine, and concluded in the first week of September with Kéknyelű, the last variety to be picked. The vintage is characterised by concentrated fruit and structure, yet retains a restrained alcohol level.
